I wanna have her babies.. in a mercedes

God damn, Scout Niblett is amazing. I've seen some good shows in the past six months, but this one was the only one I smiled the entire way through. I nerded out and talked to her a little before the show and she was so nice and pretty and British, which I had completely forgotten.
I've been thinking about picking up drums (again, but for real this time) and watching Scout bang it out last night only solidified my drive. She's amazingly inspiring.
Kory and I were in such a good mood afterwards, we ran to the Knockout, giggling like drunkards. I need a new word besides "amazing" to describe last night.

'the mute'

Seething, tongueless, brother
Always cold, brother
Play your sad organ song, brother
One note at a time
Your fingers on those keys keep me alive

Grieving songs for Sunday morning
Knock me flat on my back
And with headphones secured
I watch his sacred requiem song
Moan around the turntable
Deepening the grooves that channel
Between our
Brother’s and mine
Acidic blue-blood

And when this record ends, it gently goes to static
Lulling me to sleep with sweet vinyl hiccups

last night, jake and i grabbed a slice late in berkeley. we walked around making stupid jokes, bantering til we both ran out of steam. when we went to go home, his fickle 240Z wouldn't start and the door wouldn't open so i had to climb in through the window. i unashamedly flagged down some Cal students to give us a jump and off we went. the Z wouldn't start two more times on our way home, so i climbed in and out and pushed. twice. i felt great when guys asked me if i needed help and i replied cooly, "nope, got it."

late on the uptake

i bought this album when it came out, and decided she was annoying. i sold it back to amoeba, and forgot about it until Tommy played it for me a couple nights ago. somehow hearing it in his living room, sitting with he and Rusifee blew the songs wide open. now i can't get these beautiful songs out of my head.
